DCS Group conduct a detailed analysis to identify opportunities for energy optimisation and evaluates key energy assets to improve efficiency and sustainability.
Accurate energy data is collected, standardised, and measured to provide clear insights into energy consumption patterns and identify areas for improvement.
Client 1: Lee Strand
Project Role: Oversee and manage Lee Strand’s Environmental and Energy Strategy. Assess current state and define objectives for short, medium and long term, including energy reduction and efficiency, working with Lee Strand’s suppliers and supply chain to reduce their carbon footprint. Work with management on preparing budgets for project implementation. Ensure compliance with ISO 14001 and manage and complete annual Origin Green Report.
Client 2: Credit Unions – Sustainability Assessment & Surveys
Project Role: DCS Group works with credit unions to fulfil obligations under Central Bank guidelines. A survey and audit was carried out in each credit union, including data collection. Areas for consideration included areas of greatest impact, typically energy consumption, but also, the buildings themselves and how they function, and employee and customer experience while in the branch. Agree and deploy initiatives to reduce energy consumption, e.g. metering and controls.
Client 3: Manufacturing Company
Project Role: Carry out sustainability assessment and survey of their site, their products and services and their operations with team members. Identify areas for targeted action including electrical and mechanical, site development and enhancement. Make recommendations based on greatest positive impact and return on investment. Analyse benefits through life cycle analysis for any suggested projects. Develop strategic Decarbonisation Plan to implement over the short, medium and long term.
Larger-scale energy-saving projects are designed, implemented, and delivered, including the installation of advanced technologies or infrastructure upgrades.
Client 1: Muckross House and Gardens, Killarney, Co. Kerry
Project Role: Design and project manage large energy upgrade and solar installation at Muckross House and Gardens, Killarney. This was a sensitive project given the historic nature of the site and the beautiful gardens. The project was designed in keeping with the location and to conserve the natural beauty of area. Panel locations were agreed to minimise interference with older buildings and were camouflaged with planting in keeping with the surrounding gardens and planning conditions. DCS Group were responsible for this turnkey project, acted as PSCS and PSDS.
Client 2: Ballybunion Golf Links, Co. Kerry
Project Role: Design and project manage large electrical and mechanical upgrade, solar installation and EV Chargers. Following initial assessments and surveys of the site, and the clients desire to reduce their electrical consumption and carbon footprint and in keeping with their sustainability strategy, DCS Group were challenged to design, cost and manage this project. This was again a sensitive project given the nature of the location, a links golf course. The clubhouse and machinery shed were completely electrified and a ground mounted solar PV array was installed. There were several critical issues to consider in the design and planning phase, e.g. site location, flora and fauna and future maintenance due to its location close to the sea.
Client 3: Lee Strand Co-Op, Tralee, Co. Kerry
Project Role: This was a turnkey project with DCS Group having responsibility for initial site audit and survey, identifying recommendations for energy reduction, improved efficiencies and renewable solutions, costings, life cycle analysis and ROI. Initially 18 No. meters were installed to accurately assess the profile of energy consumption in the facility. Based on this granular data, modifications were made in cold room temperatures and speed on motors. This reduced baseload consumption by 12% reducing the required number of solar panels to service the load. A 400 KWP PV Array was installed. Lee Strand is located in a densely populated area, situated close to University Hospital Kerry with a helipad. Following a glint and glare report, it secured planning for the installation. Health and safety was a key factor in the installation as installation was carried out while production was also underway with delivery trucks etc entering the area.
